Embedding a culture of ‘everyday green thinking and behaviour’ to enable, encourage and celebrate continuous environmental and carbon improvement, Serco Goes Green Programme

Serco’s Group Environment Strategy, which commits Serco to net zero carbon emissions is aimed at addressing the ongoing environmental and climate emergencies and supporting the net zero carbon aspirations of their clients and wider society. Serco recognises that creating a culture of environmental responsibility is key to meeting our strategic ambitions and engaging their employees to deliver continuous environmental improvements.

Serco have launched ‘Serco Goes Green’, a network of green ambassadors who form a growing community of employees, helping to promote and embed ‘everyday green thinking and behaviour’ across the business. The Serco Goes Green network seeks to encourage, enable, and celebrate employee led environmental improvements.

Initially started in 2019 across Serco’s European Business, the network was launched in the UK in 2020. Within the first year of the UK network being launched over 60 employee led improvement projects have been initiated. These projects addressed energy efficiency, increased recycling, reduced single use plastic use, greener commuting, local environmental enhancements and carbon sequestration projects including tree planting and wildflower meadow creation.

In 2021 Serco have launched green ambassador networks globally across all of regions in which it operates.
