CASE STUDY: SEETEC

Driving productivity through responsible AI in employment support.

As one of the UK’s largest employee-owned public service providers, Seetec supports thousands of people every year to overcome barriers to employment.

At a time when increasing productivity, supporting economic growth and helping more people into work are national priorities, the challenge was clear. How could technology improve efficiency without losing the personal relationships that are so important to help people move into employment?

Working in partnership with AI specialist, Earlybird, Seetec piloted a suite of artificial intelligence tools across seven of its employment support sites in the South West.

Rather than replacing advisers, the technology was designed to reduce routine administration, improve accessibility and create more time for meaningful conversations with participants.

The pilot introduced AI-powered vocational assessments, live transcription, automated case notes and action plans, multilingual support and follow-up communications. By removing many of the administrative tasks associated with each appointment, advisers were able to focus on listening, coaching and tailoring support to individual needs.

As Employment Adviser, Scott, explains, “It’s there to support us in our job, not replace us. By pushing the laptop out of the way, I’m showing customers that I’m paying attention to them, not the screen.”

The impact has been significant. Advisers saved over 36 hours each month on administration, while 98% of manual note taking was eliminated through AI-generated case notes. Around 90% of appointments resulted in clear, structured action plans, improving both participant experience and record quality.

The additional capacity translated into better outcomes. The pilot supported 126 additional people into employment and delivered an 8% improvement in performance across participating sites.

Importantly, the technology also improved accessibility. Around 40% of participant interactions took place outside traditional office hours, helping people with caring responsibilities, people with English as a second language and participants who needed greater flexibility to engage with employment support.

For participants, the difference was not simply about technology, but about the quality of conversations.

Claire, who is working towards becoming a teaching assistant in a special educational needs school, said, “It’s like you’re coming in and having a friendly chat, rather than this is an appointment you’ve got to go to.”

Following the success of the pilot, Seetec has now rolled out the AI platform across all its 21 employment sites, creating an estimated 4,500 adviser hours each month that can be redirected towards supporting customers.

As the UK looks to improve productivity, grow the economy and help more people into sustainable employment, Seetec’s partnership with Earlybird demonstrates how responsible AI can strengthen, rather than replace, human expertise.

By combining technology with trusted adviser relationships, the organisation is helping build better employment outcomes and a stronger workforce.
