BSA Submission to APPG on Devolution

This response focuses on the issue of devolution or decentralisation to English local government. The BSA has not taken a stance on the extent of devolution to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as we believe this along with the issue of independence is ultimately a matter for the peoples of the nations concerned to decide. However many of the principles set out – in particular the importance of partnership working – have applications to all aspects of devolution.
